Psychiatric and Mental Health Prescribers

Medications can play a role in improving most mental health conditions. Some patients are treated with medication alone, while others are treated in combination with therapy or other treatments.

Prescribed medications play a key role in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. They can reduce symptoms and prevent relapses of a psychiatric disorder and mental health illness.

Tele-Psychiatry and Tele-Counseling

The use of video-based telepsychiatry helps meet patients' needs for convenient, affordable and readily-accessible mental health services. Telepsychiatry is equivalent to in-person care in diagnostic accuracy, treatment effectiveness, quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, e-therapy, or video therapy, is therapy delivered through a virtual platform via a computer. If you’ve ever used FaceTime or Skype, it’s essentially the same thing – except more secure and with a qualified therapist or counselor at the other end instead of a distant friend or relative.

Clinical Preceptorship and Healthcare Consulting

A clinical preceptorship can be defined as a supervised clinical experience which allows students to apply knowledge gained in the didactic portion of a program to clinical practice.

Healthcare consulting helps organizations navigate the common challenges facing the industry. These consulting bodies can come in the form of major consulting firms with a specific healthcare branch. Or they can be highly specialized companies that address one area of healthcare challenges, like the difficulty of managing payor contracts.

Medical Weight Loss - Semaglutide Program

What Is Semaglutide?
Unless you’re a healthcare professional or have Type 2 diabetes, it’s entirely possible you’ve never heard of semaglutide before. Despite its relatively new application as a powerful weight loss drug, semaglutide is a well-researched substance by way of its use for diabetes treatment. It has already been prescribed for several years as an injectable medication for
the improved management of glycemic control. When looking for viable alternatives to semaglutide for weight loss, this glycemic control mechanism is the key aspect that one hopes to replicate or mimic.

The FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) more recently approved semaglutide as a prescription weight
loss aid. Its approval has already improved the lives of chronically overweight patients.  Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like-peptide-1) receptor agonist suitable for those who are overweight, obese, and/or
those who are committed to shedding a significant amount of weight and do not have other significant underlying
health issues. It is a long-acting prescription medicine designed to be used over an extended period of several months or more. Semaglutide is not a miracle cure or a gimmick supplement.

Semaglutide injections are not an appropriate treatment for people who only need to lose a small amount of weight or have a body mass index (BMI) of 27 or less. It is also not appropriate for those who are looking for an "instant" or short-term weight loss fix.

How Does Semaglutide Work?
Semaglutide is in a class of medications called glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) agonists. GLP-1 agonists work by stimulating your pancreas to increase insulin. This additional insulin causes the stomach to empty over a longer period. This slow and consistent digestion is merely an early step in the chain reaction that makes semaglutide such an effective weight-loss drug.  When your stomach takes more time to empty itself of food, it sends signals of "fullness" to the brain. This signal is sent throughout a larger portion of your day, even if you’re eating less food than usual. The result of this process is a powerful appetite suppression effect based on the patient's own natural insulin production. This means patients using semaglutide or semaglutide alternatives can benefit from medically assisted weight loss without any need for invasive surgery.

A semaglutide regimen will also lead to healthier blood sugar levels, which can help a patient feel more energetic
throughout the day. Stabilized and controlled blood sugar levels can also help improve other areas of your overall
health. Even if you aren’t at risk for diabetes, this effect can contribute to a general sense of well-being, which is a
crucial component in any weight loss journey.

  • Decrease joint and muscle pain

  • Enhance cognitive function and memory

Ketamine Therapy

Ketamine is an anesthetic agent with powerful antidepressant properties. It was developed in the 1960’s by University of Michigan physicians as a safer option to provide comfortable sedation for procedures. Over the last several decades, studies have shown the potential for Ketamine as a therapeutic option for treatment-resistant depression. Ketamine is a safe option to provide relief from severe and persistent symptoms of depression and suicidal thinking, and can potentially provide relief of symptoms within hours to days after a single infusion.

Ketamine infusions can provide rapid relief for symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts. Traditionally, medications could take weeks before patients begin to experience relief of symptoms. With Ketamine infusions, patients often experience relief of symptoms within hours of infusion.

  • Nausea during or, more commonly, shortly after the infusion

  • Dizziness immediately after, usually dissipating entirely within a couple of hours

Ketamine Treatment Administration Alternatives:

Nasal Route - Esketamine, like ketamine, has the potential to distort your perception during the first two hours after treatment, so it has to be administered in a clinic setting. Treatment for esketamine nasal spray is done on an outpatient basis.

This medicine is available only under a restricted distribution program called Spravato™ REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) Program.

Low-Dose Ketamine -  low-dose ketamine has been proposed as a rapid-acting treatment option for suicidality. Oral ketamine can be administered in a range of settings, which is important in treating suicidality and chronic treatment-resistant depression.

NAD+ Therapy

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) is a critical, naturally occurring coenzyme of niacin (vitamin B-3) that helps every cell in our bodies to produce energy.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme present in almost all cells of the body. It plays a key role in converting nutrients into cellular energy.  With age, NAD+ levels steadily decrease and research suggests that an increase in NAD+ can help with age-associated diseases, brain functionality, metabolism, neurodegeneration, and more.

What can NAD +  be helpful for?

  • Living a Healthier life

  • Anxiety / Stress Disorder

  • Depression

  • PTSD

  • Chronic Fatigue
